The European School of Dance brings New York City to New Jersey not only with our talented staff, but our phenominal guest instructors. These individuals have performed in touring shows, are award winning choreographers, have been seen in films or on television, and have worked/trained with prestigious names in the dance industry.
Dawn Ward-Lau
(Guest Instructor: Musical Theatre & Acting)
Dawn M. Ward-Lau has over 25 years of Dance and Theatre experience. Through her extensive experience and dedication to her art as a dancer and performer she has formed Dawn Lau Dance Company. She is presently the Artistic Director and Choreographer for Dawn Lau Dance Company. She also severs as the Vice president of the west Hudson Counsel of the Arts. A Non-For Profit group striving to bring the arts and to foster an artistic community with in the West Hudson County area.
With over 25 years as a teacher, Dawn has taught throughout the tri-state area and with The Atlanta Ballet. Working with students, Dawn has directed and choreographed for Artistic Director, Michael Blevins from Tap Dance Kid, and the movies Chaplin and A Chorus Line, at Centenary Stage’s Young Performers Workshop. She has also directed and choreographed for USDAN’s Center for the Creative and Performing Arts.
Her professional performance experience include the Broadway National Tour of Funny Girl starring Debbie Gibson, Bye, Bye Birdie as Rosie, Damn Yankees as Gloria, A Funny Thing Happened… starring Jack Carter, and Anything Goes, as Erma, opposite Melba Moore at Montclair’s Theatrefest.As a choreographer, she was the Assistant Choreographer to Sammy Dallas Bayes (Jerome Robbin’s dance captain from the original cast of Fiddler on the Roof) on the Broadway National Tour of Funny Girl.She has received rave reviews for her choreography in the Forum Theatre’s productions of A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Nunsense, and A Funny thing Happened on The Way to The Forum. Dawn is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association.
Beverly Liu
(Guest Instructor: Belly Dancing)
Beverly first discovered her love of Middle Eastern Dancing in 2000 through a Middle Eastern Dance class offered by the sensational Shoshanna. After a couple classes, she was hooked! In 2006, Beverly came to the East Coast and studied under Kaeshi Chai of New York City. Kaeshi introduced her to "Belly Popping" and added a repertoire of tribal and fusion moves. Never satisfied, Beverly continues furthering her dance skills by seeking out Egyptian Style dance teachers from Classical Egyptian to Folkloric to Egyptian Pop. Angela M. Hodges
(Guest Speaker: Nutrition & Fitness)
Angela M. Hodges is a former amateur bodybuilder and has worked in the Fitness field for over twenty years as an Aerobics Instructor, Aquatics Exercise Instructor, Group Fitness Leader and Personal Trainer. She is also the volunteer Fitness Instructor for the Union Chapel senior program. Currently, she is the Fitness Director ofSpa Ladylocated in Fords, NJ, where she also provides personal training services and weight management programs. Angela truly enjoys her work; she works with a very diverse group of people from different income levels, different cultural and ethnic backgrounds; and a wide range of ages from teens to seniors. She enjoys helping people to change their bodies, become stronger, and achieve an active and healthier lifestyle. She has the ability to help people learn about their physique and empower them with more confidence and self appreciation as they develop better exercise habits. Her experience includes working with senior adults and pre-teens in various YMCA, studio, church, and school programs in the North and Central New Jersey areas. She has also served as the warm-up leader for walk-a-thon benefit events.
